Artist Statement

The majority of my work consists of plein air watercolor paintings that are done on location.  I love to focus on tangled patches of grass and trees more than grand mountain landscapes. I'm very interested in studying small details and the way leaves, vines, and branches intermingle with one another. My oil work however is done primarily in the studio where I use what I have learned in my plein airs to help me create oil landscapes. I also paint a lot of figures and portraits with oil. I have another portfolio on my website dedicated to my live figure drawing work, which is a huge passion of mine and influences all of my art. I use those figure drawing studies as well as my own photography to work from and create figure oil paintings. My figure paintings are done in mostly reds and pinks and have a contextual focus on hyper femininity.
